Orlando Engineer Elected to Board of World’s Largest Engineering Honor Society
First Female Vice President from University of Florida Engineering
Tau Beta Pi, the world’s largest engineering honor society, has elected Solange Dao to serve as the 2006-2008 Vice President on the board of directors. She was the first female vice president of the society elected from the UF Engineering School, who was installed on October 7, 2006, in Denver, CO, at the Association’s 101st annual Convention.
2006 Tau Beta Pi Vice President— Solange C. Dao, Florida Alpha ’95, P.E., President of Dao Consultants, is a graduate of the University of Florida with a B.S.C.E., who is also a certified provider with the Florida Board of Professional Engineers to present professional development seminars for continuing-education credit, and a member of the City of Orlando’s municipal planning board, Orlando Area Committee on Foreign Relations, and the BETA Center (a school, shelter, and counseling center for young teen mothers) board. Additionally, Dao has served as a Chapter Advisor to Florida Delta (UCF) since 2000, a TBP Engineering Futures Facilitator, and has presented more than 160 sessions since 1997.
